After completing a law degree, Bridget began working for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in Canberra but greatly missed the advocacy and court work she’d enjoyed at a community legal centre during university. So, she became a solicitor, then barrister, and criminal law turned out to offer exactly what she was looking for: meaningful client work and time on her feet in court.
Bridget’s practice is predominantly criminal, with a strong focus on District Court jury trials and Children’s Court matters. She also appears regularly in post sentence proceedings, including supervision orders under mental health, high risk offender and child protection legislation, as well as coronial inquests and related proceedings.
Her practice reflects experience well beyond her seniority, and she regularly runs matters of significant complexity. She has been a member of the Bar Association’s Human Rights Committee and undertakes occasional academic writing.
Bridget is known for her meticulous preparation, is highly detail focused, a strong advocate for early and fair resolution, and a member of multiple Legal Aid panels.
Outside law, Bridget is a volunteer surf lifesaver with Surf Life Saving Australia, a role than continues her inherent sense of community and giving.
