Will practises primarily in criminal law, with extensive experience acting in defence. Will appears in summary and indictable matters in the Supreme Court, District Court and Local Court (including Children’s Court) of NSW, and the Court of Criminal Appeal. He regularly acts in trials, contested hearings and in cases involving complex evidentiary and procedural issues.

Before coming to the Bar, Will worked with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, before moving into criminal defence practice with the Aboriginal Legal Service. He later practised with Legal Aid, where he gained significant experience acting for disadvantaged and vulnerable clients.
A particular focus of Will’s practice is policing and the exercise of police powers. He frequently appears in matters involving challenges to the legality of police conduct, including applications to exclude evidence and proceedings arising from unlawful arrest, search or detention. His work in this area extends beyond the criminal jurisdiction to include civil proceedings against police, including claims for false arrest, false imprisonment, assault and related intentional torts.
Will also has a strong interest and background in mental health advocacy. He has experience advising and representing persons subject to mental health scheduling and review processes, including appearances before the Mental Health Review Tribunal.
Will brings a practical, independent and analytical approach to his work, with a focus on careful preparation and clear advocacy, particularly in cases that raise issues of liberty, fairness and the proper exercise of state power.
