Tim Hammond
Tim’s practice encompasses criminal law, inquests and public and regulatory matters across all criminal jurisdictions, from the Local Court through to the District Court, Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeal. He is particularly well regarded for his work in coronial inquests and inquiries, frequently appearing as Counsel Assisting in complex and sensitive matters. He has also undertaken prosecution work for government agencies, including regulatory and environmental prosecutions for bodies such as the Environment Protection Authority and SafeWork and appears regularly in the Land and Environment Court and the Industrial Court.
An effective and experienced senior advocate, Tim is known for his measured and calm courtroom manner, thorough preparation and skilled advocacy before judges and juries, including decisive cross‑examination and the presentation of persuasive submissions. He also appears for health professionals in disciplinary proceedings and professional tribunals. Solicitors value his balanced, practical advice, reliability and ability to work collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes.
Beyond his courtroom practice, Tim is actively involved in professional development and education. He is a trainer with the Australian Advocacy Institute, a tutor to new barristers, an advocacy coach on the NSW Bar Practice Course and a regular presenter at professional conferences and seminars. In 2022, he was appointed Environmental Counsel to the board of the EPA, a statutory appointment renewed in 2025 for a further term.
Outside his practice, Tim enjoys golf, travel and spending time with his wife and daughters.
