Sheridan Goodwin
At school, Sheridan harboured ambitions to pursue medicine but a formative experience debating euthanasia shifted that focus decisively towards the law, and, in particular, towards criminal law defence. That commitment has remained central throughout a career shaped by a strong belief in the fundamental right to representation, regardless of background, means or allegation.
Sheridan’s practice spans serious summary and indictable matters as well as appellate work. With experience on both sides of the bar table, Sheridan has appeared in numerous high‑profile and demanding matters, acting in defence and as prosecutor (including for both the NSW and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions). She has also appeared in environmental prosecutions and Commission‑based proceedings, including ICAC, LECC (and the former PIC) as well as coronial proceedings, for witnesses and as Counsel-Assisting.
A thorough, hardworking advocate, Sheridan is a disciplined cross‑examiner and a clear, persuasive closer. She brings a structured, analytical approach to complex evidence, with an ability to break issues down and communicate them plainly and logically.
Outside of her practice, Sheridan enjoys mentoring and regularly judges university competitions. Away from work, interests include sport, fitness and spending time with family and friends.
